In the wake of his death, Farshad is reflecting on their relationship and sharing a deeply personal message about love, loss and saying goodbye.

Farshad and Gerber met in May 2021 at tactical and stunt training for actors in Azusa, California. The two quickly became friends and later dated briefly, choosing to keep their relationship private and out of the public eye. Farshad says their relationship ended in 2022 after she had to spend extended periods of time outside the country, and over time, the two slowly lost touch.

Despite having lost touch, Gerber remained someone Farshad remembered with deep affection. Following his death, she shared an emotional series of Instagram Stories on Sunday night, including a photo from a prayer room and a tearful video filmed alone in her car. Fighting back tears, Farshad reflected on how often people hold back their feelings because they are afraid of being judged or appearing too vulnerable.

“I wish we could be more vulnerable and not care about what other people think and just be who we are and tell people around us how much we love them,” Farshad said in the video. “How much we care about them.”

She continued: “Because what if you wake up one day and your loved ones and someone you know are gone and you didn’t tell them how much you missed them and how much you loved them?”

Farshad then asked a question that has become central to her message following Gerber’s death:
“What if they didn’t know how loved they were?”

The actress is now encouraging others to reconsider the way society often treats vulnerability, particularly when it comes to expressing love, checking in on people and reaching out to those who may no longer be part of our everyday lives.

“Maybe we shouldn’t care so much about what other people think,” Farshad said. “Maybe we should just tell people how much we love them.”

The emotional message comes days after Farshad shared a tribute to Gerber, remembering him as “ her hero and a light and ally to the Persian community” and speaking about his genuine love and curiosity toward her Persian culture and people.

“Presley was such a light and ally to the Persian community,” Farshad wrote. “He had so much love for me and my culture and my people and was always curious to learn more.”

Farshad also reflected on the personal connection they shared and the ways Gerber had shown up for her during difficult moments in her own life.

“I am so disheartened that he passed alone and I couldn’t say goodbye to him and hug him one last time and be there for him the way he was there for me,” she wrote.

For Farshad, the loss has become a painful reminder that there may not always be another opportunity to say the things we are afraid to say.
