Walmart Modular Buildings Relocated from Fort Pierce to Alachua

How Two Modular Buildings Were Disassembled and Rebuilt for a Walmart Distribution Center in Florida

A recent project spanning two Florida locations demonstrated how careful coordination and flexible planning can support large-scale facility operations without interrupting daily workflow. The effort involved the relocation and partial reconstruction of modular buildings originally housed at a Walmart distribution center in Fort Pierce, with the structures ultimately reinstalled and repurposed at a Walmart facility in Alachua, Florida.

The project began with the disassembly of two modular buildings at the Fort Pierce distribution center:

  • Area 200: A 20′ x 40′ x 9′ high structure with a single internal division.
  • Area 300: A larger 20′ x 60′ x 9′ high building configured with several interior rooms.

Both structures were intended to serve as temporary operational spaces in Alachua, allowing Walmart employees to continue working without disruption while the main facility underwent significant renovations.

The Execution: Precision and Adaptability

The reinstallation of the Area 200 building proceeded according to plan. The structure was reassembled to its original specifications, with one adjustment at the client’s request – the removal of the internal division to create a more open, flexible space.

The approach to Area 300 shifted during the course of the project. Walmart management elected not to reassemble the larger multi-room structure. Instead, the materials from that building were repurposed to construct a new 20′ x 28′ x 9′ high break room for facility employees. The decision allowed the team to make practical use of existing assets in a way that aligned with the facility’s current requirements.

The Power of Partnership: SoFlo and A-Wall Building Systems

The project relied on collaboration between multiple parties. The modular buildings, originally manufactured by A-Wall Building Systems, provided a durable and adaptable foundation that made disassembly, transport, and reassembly logistically viable.

The SoFlo team played a central role in managing execution across every phase – from the initial breakdown in Fort Pierce through transportation logistics and final reconstruction in Alachua. Their coordination and on-site involvement were instrumental in keeping the project on track and managing the complexities that arose along the way.

A Successful Outcome, Ahead of Schedule

The full scope of work was completed smoothly and ahead of the established schedule, delivering functional spaces that supported Walmart’s employees throughout the renovation period at the Alachua facility.
